Welcome to AlturasCalifornia.com. These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of AlturasCalifornia.com, including our local business directory, visitor guide, event listings, advertising features, account tools, paid business listing services, and related website features.
By accessing or using this website, submitting a listing, creating an account, purchasing a paid listing, posting an event, submitting content, or otherwise using our services, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use this website.
1. Website Owner and Contact
AlturasCalifornia.com is an independent local directory and information website focused on Alturas, California, Modoc County, local businesses, travelers, events, and community information.
Website: https://alturascalifornia.com
Contact Email: support@alturascalifornia.com
2. Description of Services
AlturasCalifornia.com provides a local online platform where visitors can discover businesses, lodging, restaurants, services, events, local information, articles, travel resources, and other community-related content.
We may offer free and paid business listings, business profiles, event posting tools, advertising placements, analytics, lead forms, promotional offers, directory features, and related services.
We may modify, add, suspend, or remove features at any time.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, submit a business listing, purchase a paid listing, submit payment information, post events, submit advertisements, or otherwise use business owner features.
By using the website on behalf of a business or organization, you represent that you have authority to act on behalf of that business or organization.
4. Accounts
Some features may require an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating an account or submitting a listing.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You agree to notify us if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, submit false information, misuse the website, fail to pay required fees, or create risk for the website, users, or listed businesses.
5. Business Listings
Businesses may submit listings for inclusion in the directory. Submission does not guarantee approval, publication, ranking, promotion, or continued display.
We may approve, reject, edit, categorize, relocate, suspend, remove, or decline any listing at our discretion.
You are responsible for making sure your listing information is accurate, lawful, current, and not misleading. This includes business name, phone number, address, website links, social media links, descriptions, photos, logos, hours, pricing, offers, events, and other submitted information.
You agree not to submit content that infringes another party’s rights, impersonates another business, contains false claims, promotes illegal activity, contains malicious links, or violates applicable law.
6. Free Listings
Free listings may include limited information, such as business name, phone number, and category. Free listings may have limited analytics and limited editing features.
Free listings are subject to approval and may be changed, removed, or limited at any time.
Free listings do not guarantee placement, visibility, search ranking, traffic, leads, sales, calls, bookings, or customer inquiries.
7. Paid Listings
Paid listing plans may include additional features such as photos, descriptions, website links, maps, business hours, reviews, event posting, featured placement, advertisements, analytics, special offers, or other promotional tools.
Paid listing features depend on the plan selected and may change over time. Current plan details are displayed on the website or in your account dashboard.
Paid placement does not guarantee any specific number of views, clicks, calls, leads, bookings, sales, customers, reviews, search rankings, or revenue.
8. Subscription Billing
Paid listings are billed as recurring subscriptions unless otherwise stated. By purchasing a paid listing, you authorize recurring charges for the selected plan at the price shown at checkout.
Subscription fees are billed in advance and may continue until canceled. You are responsible for maintaining a valid payment method.
If payment fails, your paid features may be suspended, downgraded, hidden, or removed until payment is resolved.
We may change subscription pricing or plan features in the future. If required, we will provide notice through the website, account dashboard, email, or other reasonable method.
9. Stripe Payment Processing
Payments are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. We do not directly store full credit card numbers on our servers.
By making a payment, you agree that your payment information may be collected and processed by Stripe according to Stripe’s own terms, policies, and security practices. Stripe provides payment infrastructure for online transactions, subscriptions, and billing services. [oai_citation:1‡Stripe](https://stripe.com/)
We are not responsible for Stripe’s independent services, outages, processing delays, payment declines, account reviews, disputes, chargebacks, or other payment processor actions.
10. Cancellations
You may cancel a paid subscription through your account billing area, through the billing portal if available, or by contacting us.
Cancellation stops future renewal charges but does not automatically refund prior payments unless required by law or expressly stated by us in writing.
After cancellation, your listing may be downgraded to a free listing, and paid features may be removed, hidden, or disabled.
11. Refunds
Unless otherwise required by law, subscription payments, listing fees, advertising fees, and promotional fees are non-refundable once charged.
We may review refund requests on a case-by-case basis, but we are not required to provide a refund simply because a listing did not generate traffic, calls, leads, sales, bookings, reviews, or other results.
12. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
If you dispute a charge or initiate a chargeback, we may suspend or terminate your account, listing, advertising, event posting, or other paid services while the dispute is reviewed.
You agree to contact us first so we can attempt to resolve billing concerns before initiating a payment dispute.
13. Events
Eligible business users may submit events for publication. Events may require approval before appearing on the website.
You are responsible for ensuring event information is accurate, lawful, current, and not misleading, including event time, date, location, cost, organizer, ticket links, age restrictions, cancellation status, and safety information.
We are not responsible for event cancellations, schedule changes, safety issues, ticketing issues, venue problems, third-party organizers, or inaccurate event submissions.
14. Reviews and Ratings
The website may allow users to submit reviews or star ratings for eligible businesses.
Reviews may be moderated, approved, rejected, edited for formatting, hidden, or removed at our discretion.
Users agree not to submit fake reviews, defamatory content, threats, harassment, spam, conflicts of interest, impersonation, illegal content, or content that violates another person’s rights.
Business owners may not approve their own reviews. Business owners may be allowed to respond to reviews, subject to moderation.
Reviews represent the opinions of individual users and do not necessarily reflect the views of AlturasCalifornia.com.
15. Advertising and Featured Placement
Premium listings or advertisers may receive featured placement, advertising display, promotional visibility, or other enhanced exposure depending on their plan or campaign.
We may rotate advertisements and featured listings automatically. Placement, ranking, frequency, display order, and visibility may vary.
Advertising and featured placement do not guarantee impressions, clicks, calls, leads, customers, bookings, sales, or revenue.
We may reject, edit, pause, or remove advertisements that are misleading, unlawful, inappropriate, low quality, infringing, or inconsistent with the website’s standards.
16. User Content
User Content means any content submitted to the website, including business information, descriptions, photos, logos, reviews, ratings, events, offers, advertisements, comments, messages, and other materials.
You retain ownership of content you submit, but you grant AlturasCalifornia.com a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, host, store, display, reproduce, resize, crop, modify for formatting, distribute, promote, and publish your content in connection with the website and related marketing.
You represent that you have all rights necessary to submit the content and grant this license.
You agree not to submit content that violates copyright, trademark, privacy rights, publicity rights, contract rights, or any other rights of another person or entity.
17. Photos, Logos, and Media
If you upload photos, logos, or other media, you confirm that you own the media or have permission to use it.
We may resize, crop, compress, or adjust uploaded media for website performance, layout, and display.
We may remove media that is low quality, offensive, unlawful, misleading, irrelevant, infringing, or otherwise inappropriate.

We try to keep information useful and current, but we do not guarantee that all information is accurate, complete, current, available, or error-free.

20. Third-Party Links and Services
The website may link to third-party websites or services, including payment processors, maps, social media pages, booking websites, business websites, ticketing platforms, and other external resources.
